Vacation Bible School

This is one of the best weeks of the year! It is Christ the King’s Vacation Bible School, which is one of the yearly highlights for the Children’s Ministry staff and for our church body as a whole. We get to open the doors of Christ the King to our church families and families in our community and welcome them with the hospitality of Jesus. Hundreds of kids and students (nursery thru 12th grade) and about one hundred adults are participating in this unique opportunity for mission, outreach, connection, and spiritual growth this summer.

We are on an Amazing Voyage this week on The SS Fearless – a research vessel traveling in the Atlantic Ocean, led by Captain Skip and his First Mate Willigan. We are learning stories from the Bible about God’s AMAZING power and grace from our guests Joshua, Jonah, Daniel, and Peter. We are learning navigational skills and nautical lingo, learning about God’s amazing creation through oceanic experiments, raising money for our Mission Partner, Houston Welcomes Refugees, watching fun skits, worshipping through singing, and building relationships along the way.

The mission of the Children’s Ministry at Christ the King is to come alongside parents to teach kids the stories of God’s unconditional love and pursuit of his people found in the Bible, to help kids build Christian relationships that will aid them as they navigate this world as a follower of Christ and to show them how to live as lights in Houston and the world. Vacation Bible School is the perfect catalyst for this mission. We are so grateful for all of your prayers and help that has enabled us to provide such an amazing week for our kids.
