Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Internship Program?
The Latino Institute for Leadership Development at Christ the King, called La Masía, has designed a 12-month Internship Program for proven Latino leaders who have a few years of work and leadership experience (typically 25+ years old). If you have several years of faithfully leading others in ministry as a lay leader, strongly considering vocational ministry, and in seminary or interested in theological education, the Internship Program may be right for you.
What is the Purpose of the Program?
The primary purpose is to identify and equip Latino ministry leaders for vocational ministry through theological training, intentional mentorship, and purposeful service.
Who is the Internship Program for?
  • A maturing believer
  • Has several years serving the church in a leadership capacity
  • Is strongly considering vocational ministry
  • Is in seminary or interested in theological education
  • Should have a willingness to learn and a desire to teach
  • Is open to ministry in the PCA (though not required to participate in the program)
What Is the Length of the Program?
  • The Internship Program lasts 12 months. The weekly schedule will vary throughout the year, depending on ministry involvement.
  • The Internship Program starts on January 10th and ends on December 18th, 2025.
  • Interns are expected to commit to the full-length of the program, including all the requirements listed above.
What Does a Typical Week Look Like?
While your schedule will change depending on your full-time job and what ministry you serve, a typical week could look like this:
  • Monday - Friday: Vocational work and study
  • Tuesday evening: Theological and Practical Training every 2 weeks, plus one-on-one coaching/mentoring with pastor
  • Sunday: Attend and/or serve the Church (including visiting Christ the King, per schedule)
Interns can expect to have 4-6 hours of reading and study per week. They will attend training for 3 hours every other week and attend a call with a coach/mentor for 1 hour every other week. There will be strategic meetings that interns will be invited to attend, such as Staff, Leadership, Session, Deacon, Presbytery, and others.
Is There Financial Compensation?
Interns are given a small monthly stipend to encourage them in their study. As such, they are expected to work full-time outside of the church and to be living in Houston. Besides the stipend, Interns will be given all materials including books and have all-expenses-paid trips to two annual conferences. We strongly advise you not to apply if you have a considerable amount of student or consumer debt.
What Will I Do After the Program?
  • Go directly into full-time or part-time ministry
  • Attend seminary or another avenue for theological education
  • May decide to pursue a different vocation
What Are the Requirements of the Program?
  • Alignment with Christ the King's belief and mission
  • Commit to 4-6 hours/week of study
  • Commit to attending all in-person bi-weekly meetings
  • Commit to attending scheduled calls with coach/mentor
  • Intermediate to Advanced Spanish
  • Pass a background check
