Sermon on the Mount

Jesus’ greatest discourse touches on prayer, anxiety, relationships, the motivations behind our actions, and many other practical concerns. The Sermon on the Mount articulates what the life of a Christ follower should look like, asking us the same questions it posed to its original hearers: How should a disciple relate to sin? To others? To the law? How does a disciple think, speak, and act? Join us as we unpack the Sermon on the Mount using Jen Wilkin's Sermon on the Mount study and enjoy fellowship together. The Sunday morning groups will meet bi-weekly at the church, starting September 10. Childcare will be provided. The evening groups will meet weekly in homes, starting September 5.

Matthew

Do you ever wonder how you should study the Bible? You long for transformation but it eludes you! Unless we are taught good study habits, few of us develop them naturally. This  discussion-based group will focus on observing, interpreting, and applying the book of Matthew each week using bible study methods that will teach skills for understanding Scripture and develop you as a student of the Word.

Group members will rotate the leading of discussion questions related to each chapter such as: What did you learn about God for which you can praise and thank him? What did you learn about yourself for which you could repent? What did you learn about life that you could aspire to, ask for, and act on? We encourage attendees to take time beforehand to read, meditate, and consider details of the passage. Using a study bible is a great way to enhance your study or consulting a commentary. This group will meet at the church weekly from 9:30-11:30 am, starting September 5. Childcare will be provided.

Foundations of our Faith

This study in church history will provide an incredible foundation for our faith by exploring what God has been doing in the world for the past 2,000 years by examining the lives and experiences of church fathers such as Calvin and Luther, and topics such as the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Trinity. This study will not only provide perspective on the past but also inspiration to persevere today as we see the power and authority of the word of God vividly illustrated in the lives of generations of Christians before us. Please join us for this unique opportunity to learn together! Following a lecture by Clay Holland, there will be a brief time of Q&A before we join our small groups for a time of prayer. This group will meet at the church weekly from 9:30-11:30 am, starting September 6. Childcare provided.

Mining the Depths of Scripture

August 30, 6:30-9:00 pm, The Great Hall
As we study the Word of God, there are certain tools that better enable us to deeply mine the truths of the gospel. How fruitful it is when we are equipped with these essentials! Join us for an evening with Kay Gabrysch as we look at the tools for mining Scripture that will help us more effectively teach ourselves and others how to better know and love the Lord.

We'll gather from 6:30-7:00 to hear what's ahead for Women at Christ the King this fall and then hear Kay teach from 7:00-9:00. We kindly ask that you RSVP by August 27. We hope to see you there!

Kay Gabrysch is a bible study teacher, author, conference speaker, and grandmother of four. She regularly teaches two weekly bible studies at her home church of Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, in addition to teaching at several retreats each year. She served for 15 years in Bible Study Fellowship in the roles of discussion leader, class administrator, and teaching leader before beginning her ministry at PCP. In December she will graduate from Covenant Theological Seminary with a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies.
