Women at Christ the King

Bible Studies

1 Peter

God created us as women to live with a hope and identity rooted in Christ. Sometimes relationships, circumstances, or our own internal struggles lead us to question who God made us to be and where our identity is found. The history of God’s people reveals that they felt similarly. In fact, 2,000 years ago Peter wrote a letter rich with encouragement to remind the believers in the early church that they were called to a Living Hope—and we are too.

This spring the women of Christ the King will use Jen Wilkin’s study on 1 Peter to dig into the five chapters of Peter’s letter. As we spend time in his letter, we will uncover themes of humility, submission, and identity in Christ. Our hope is that we will be encouraged by the gospel, nurtured in our affections for God, and equipped even more in our ability to study the Word of God. Join us for this study as we discover our identity and Living Hope! Childcare is available for studies at Christ the King.

Do you ever wonder how you should study the Bible? Do you long for transformation but it eludes you? Unless we are taught good study habits, few of us develop them naturally. This discussion-based group will focus on observing, interpreting, and applying the book of Matthew each week using Bible study methods that will develop you as a student of the Word.

Group members will rotate leading the group though discussion questions related to each chapter. We encourage attendees to take time beforehand to read, meditate, and consider details of the passage. This group will meet at the church weekly from 9:30-11:30 am, starting January 16. We will begin in Matthew 16 and a study guide will be provided. Childcare is available.

From Alpha to Omega
Studying the Names of God in Scripture

Wednesdays, 2/21 through 3/28, Downtown and Galleria Area
Men and women are invited to study the names of God and their significance. For many of us, our names do not signify much about us beyond the family member or friend after whom we are named. This is not true of God. His names reveal to us his character and his purposes. Our God has, in his Word, given himself names from “Elohim” to “Alpha & Omega.” Register for the Downtown study here. Register for the Galleria area study here.
