Children's Ministry

The mission of our children’s ministry is to encourage our children to love God, look to his Word and live as lights in the world.

The children’s ministry staff partners with parents and other church members to nurture children in the Christian faith so children may worship, know and serve God.  We provide a safe environment for children to learn about God and our need for a Savior in our nursery classes through Code 45 (4th and 5th grade ministry).  We use “The Gospel Story Curriculum” published by New Growth Press.

Infants Through Four-Year-Olds

We provide childcare for infants through four-year-olds during the worship services to allow parents to attend a worship service and a spiritual growth class. Paid caregivers and volunteers care for the children during the services.

Church member volunteers teach Sunday school during the 9:30 worship service. Our infants learn that God loves them and that church is a wonderful place to be on Sunday mornings. Our toddlers learn that God loves them, and they learn that the Bible shows us how we can worship and serve God.

Early Elementary (Kindergarten – Second Grade)

We offer Sunday school classes during the 9:30 service. Church member volunteers teach the lessons and engage the children through scripture reading, crafts and activities that enhance the Bible lesson.

3D (Third Grade)

3D meets in room A201 on Sunday mornings during the 9:30 worship service. Students play games, enjoy a snack, and then join in large group time for announcements and singing. Adult volunteers teach a Sunday School lesson using "The Gospel Story Curriculum." Twice a month 3D students participate in Blessings in a Backpack, a service project for children who attend a local elementary school. 3D students also get together for two socials a year, usually in the fall and spring.

Code 45 (4th and 5th Grade)

Code 45, a ministry of Christ the King to 4th and 5th graders, seeks to encourage and support our pre-teens as they grow in their love for Jesus, learn to look into His Word for truth and endeavor to live as Christians in this world. Our prayer is that our 4th and 5th graders will authentically worship, know, and serve the King and extend His kingdom.

Sunday Mornings:

Sunday mornings begin with students playing games during hangout time to help foster relationships with each other and their leaders. We move into a large group time with singing and an interactive lesson.

Socials are planned periodically throughout the year in order to help the children form new friendships and deepen their relationships with each other. Pre-teens need to know that they are not alone during this challenging time of life. We want them to know Christian friends who will walk with them in the world to learn to engage others.

Mission Projects:

In the fall and in the spring, the students participate in local mission projects that serve our church and our community. We want to give students a realistic view of the world and learn how God can use them to further his kingdom.

Children’s Worship

Our children’s worship programs show our children that we are all made to worship God. Children’s worship gives children a place to glorify God through worship– reading scripture, singing hymns, prayer, teaching the Word, offerings, and confessing our faith – but in an age-appropriate level. Our ultimate goal is to teach children the importance of worship and to transition easily into larger corporate worship.

Our Wee Worship program shows our 3 and 4-year-olds how to worship God through song, prayer, Bible lessons and puppets. Wee Worship meets during the 8:30 and 11 am worship services.

Kingdom Kids is children’s worship for Kindergarten through second grade students. Church member volunteers help children discover “God’s Great Rescue Plan” for us in the Bible.

Sowing Seeds

Sowing Seeds is designed to nurture connections among families with young children by providing outreach, fellowship and learning activities. This ministry hopes to support parents in growing their children in Christ.

Encouragement for families with young children is important. Play dates and other events are a part of Sowing Seeds’ effort to provide an outlet that helps parents connect and gain support from one another.

Sowing Seeds hosts serving events in which our families with young children can participate. We want young children to know they can make an impact on Houston by serving Christ as they serve our community.

Learning Activities:

Sowing Seeds hosts learning events that can help guide parents in the God-given role of raising children.
