CARES by Apartment Life

Apartment Life places CARES Teams (a married couple, family or two single adults) into apartment communities to assist management in building community and serving residents; these teams receive free rent for 10 hours/week.

Fifth Ward Pregnancy Help Center
Fifth Ward Pregnancy Help Center provides free peer counseling, education, limited medical services,

Forge for Families
The Forge exists to enrich the spiritual, educational, vocational, and leadership development of inner
city families through Christ-centered mentoring, bringing transforming growth to Houston’s Third Ward. Help with vocational skills seminars, team sports, after school enrichment, weekly counseling, 12 step groups, friendship circles, summer entrepreneurial training, summer leadership development program, summer camps, and mission trips.

Harris County Jail Chaplaincy Ministry
Jail Chaplaincy Ministry is a non-denominational organization providing inmates from Harris County and Fort Bend County with opportunities to worship God according to style preference. Volunteer by serving on a worship service team. Contact: Freddie Wier 713.769.2929


International Friendship Program
In this program, American families, singles, or couples meet with an international student of their
choice. This friendship may be based on common hobbies, majors, vocational experience, languages
studied, or countries visited hope to visit. Commitment: Two to three hours once a month for at least
one semester for friendship and cultural exchange. Often you can just invite your international student
along to a family activity or event (sports event, wedding, Thanksgiving, rodeo, shopping, restaurant

Open Door Mission
Open Door Mission is a faith-based recovery and rehabilitation shelter dedicated to transforming the
lives of the addicted, destitute, homeless or disabled. Volunteer through literacy tutoring, devoting
time as a mentor, food service volunteer, or help in the office with administrative tasks.

Priority Associates
The Vision of Priority Associates (PA) Houston is to mobilize and empower a movement of
courageous leaders who are committed to developing ministries of evangelism and discipleship in their
marketplace sphere of influence that will help transform Greater Houston for Christ. Many ways to
plug in include: small group discussions, luncheons, leadership seminars and training, personal
coaching, family and marriage conferences, and weekend learning conferences.

The Source for Women
The Source for Women’s first priority is to be Christ to women who are hurting and feel abandoned
during an unplanned pregnancy. By sharing God's love and truth, the Source seeks to change her life
radically by leading her to the ultimate Source. Through counseling, education and care, the Source for
Women empowers women to make informed choices. Serve by volunteering your time as a counselor,
offering educational services, handyman, medical services, or an intercessor.

Yellowstone Academy
Yellowstone Academy is a faith based, comprehensive approach to addressing the multi-dimensional
challenges of poverty in the lives of children and their families from the platform of a high quality
private pre-school through eighth grade educational institution. The school exclusively serves children
from low-income families with a program designed to provide them the educational, spiritual, social
and practical resources they need to succeed in life. Partner with Yellowstone by volunteering in the
classroom, in the library, after school and tutoring, or on field trips. Also join in the Shepherd a Child
program by meeting with a child once a month, showing them the world around them, and investing

Young Life is a non-denominational, Christian, non-profit organization that is committed to
