This Sunday, we say goodbye to our founding pastor Leo Schuster, his wife Ellen, and their three daughters: Anna, Margaret, and Mary Caroline. Many of the elements of the service are reflective of Leo's leadership over the past 14 years. The cover of the Order of Worship matches that of our first worship service on February 2, 1997. The Call to Worship comes from Isaiah 6, the same passage as the first sermon preached at Christ the King, titled "Behold Your King!".
Please join us this Sunday, August 1 from 12:00-2:00 pm at The Junior League of Houston, 1811 Briar Oaks Lane, 77027 (map) to honor Ellen and Leo Schuster for their fourteen years of ministry at Christ the King. Children are welcome. We're collecting memories and well wishes for a keepsake book. Please bring yours on an 8.5x11 page if you'd like to contribute.
Please join us Sunday, August 15 from 5:00-6:30pm at HCC for a very important informational and prayer gathering. The first part of the meeting will address questions related to our move to the new facility September 12, and we will conclude the meeting with a time of prayer. Please make every effort to attend as we will be presenting very important information during this time. Childcare will be provided for infants through age 5.
You are cordially invited to the 2010 Men of Christ the King bowling championship tonight from 7:00-9:30 pm. Well, it's not really a championship but it's still a lot of fun. Bowlers of all levels are welcome. We'll have a prize for our top bowler and of course the coveted Munson award for the lowest score.
Join us this Friday, July 30 at 10:00 am at Wonder Wild, 707 E. Shepherd Drive, Ste 500. $5/person with group discount. Contact Julie Perry for more info or with questions: julieaperry@gmail.com 832.867.1497.
Serving Saturdays in July
In preparation for our move, we are targeting service in with Spring Branch. Come and join us Saturday, July 31 as we serve with the Faith Center, a ministry of First and Long Point Baptist Churches. We will be spending time working in their clothes closet, food pantry and doing light maintenance around the facility. The event is scheduled from 9:30 am - 2:00 pm; however, early departures are okay. No special skills are required. If you are interested, email Brad DeLoach or sign-up at the mission table on Sunday morning.
New Facility Items for Donation
Some things that are still needed are: kneelers, pianos, organ improvement, decorative furnishings and new perimeter fencing. If you are interested in donating funds for these items above and beyond your Extend pledge, please contact Adrienne Fry. Items may be given in honor or memory of someone if you desire.
School Supplies Needed
Sixteen 4th graders at Yellowstone Academy need our help in collecting school supplies for the upcoming school year. Please email Sol Edwards to sign up to buy supplies for one student or sign up at the registration table on Sunday. Supplies can be dropped off at church this Sunday, August 1.
Toddler/Children's Sunday School Teachers Needed!
Are you looking for a place to serve at Christ the King and you love children? We are still looking for teachers and assistants. Please contact Patti Cunningham if you are a church member and interested in serving.
Sunday School
There will be no Sunday School classes for children, students or adults from August 8 - September 5 in order to prepare for the move to the new facility. Sunday School will resume with our first service in the new facility September 12.
Communion Set up and Clean up Help Needed!
We have several spots that we need to fill. This is a great way to serve alongside your friends and fellow members. Please contact Mary Grace Rogers if you are interested in serving.
