The Medieval Theologian, Anselm of Canterbury, once described theology as “faith seeking understanding.” Christ the King seeks to be a place where people can grow in their faith by growing in their understanding of God’s Word and how to apply it in their lives using the following avenues.
Spiritual Growth ClassesSpiritual Growth Classes are courses in the Bible, theology, and the Christian Life that will be offered on Sunday mornings at Houston Community College, as well as at other times and places, to help you grow by increasing your knowledge of God, his Word, and how to apply it to your life.
Basic TrainingBasic Training is just what the name implies: basic training in the DNA, philosophy of ministry, and theological commitments of Christ the King. Basic Training is the best starting place for an introduction to who we are as a church and why we exist in Houston. Basic Training is highly recommended for everyone at Christ the King and is required for those seeking leadership positions. The next Basic Training course will begin on Sunday mornings and a weeknight evening in September 2009.
Community GroupsCommunity Groups are small groups that meet throughout the city in order to help you grow in your knowledge of God through prayer, study and interaction with others in your group. Community Groups will either utilize questions based upon the previous Sunday’s sermon, a book, or an approved curriculum as a means to help you grow spiritually.
Women’s Bible StudiesWomen’s Bible Studies meet on a weekday morning or in the evening in order to provide a place for women to grow spiritually through Bible study and prayer. Women’s Bible studies either meet in small groups or in a combination of large and small groups for teaching and discussion. Women’s Bible studies also provide a warm and inviting environment for people new to Christ the King to get “plugged in” and learn more about the church.
Men’s Bible StudiesMen’s Bible Studies help prepare men to function faithfully as followers of Christ, in all their different relationships, through Bible study and prayer. Men’s Bible studies will utilize books or approved curricula in a small group format to help men grow in their knowledge of the Bible and how to apply it to the different spheres of their lives.
