Baptism is an important part of Christianity. It is more than a simple statement of faith; it is entry into the church. As such, we baptize new Christians who are joining our church as well as the children of members of our church. Because baptism is the entrance rite into the life of the church, all baptisms at Christ the King will be performed by one of the pastors on the church staff.
- What is Baptism?
- Baptism is a sacrament, in which the washing with water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, signifies and seals our engrafting into Christ, and partaking of the benefits of the covenant of grace, and our engagement to be the Lord’s. Westminster Shorter Catechism, Question 94
Adults who have not been previously baptized should request baptism when they take the Introduction to Christ the King class as a step toward membership.
Children of members are baptized during our worship services monthly. We offer a class, describing the teaching of our church on baptism, for parents who are desiring to have their first child baptized. These meetings take place quarterly on Sunday mornings. Please contact the church office for more information or to reserve a place in the class. After you attend the class, you may schedule the baptism of your child.
