Student Ministry

At Christ the King our hope is that 6th - 12th grade students would feel welcome to come and be themselves. As a group, we want to grow in our understanding of who Jesus is, what he has done, and how we can worship and serve him in our city and beyond.

Our Team

Our church believes in having a relationship-based student ministry. We want to walk side-by-side with students as they go through middle and high school. Our staff and volunteers want to get to know the students of Christ the King and the students of Houston. Shoot us an email whenever!

Email Nathan

Nathan Whittle recently finished his classes at Williams College and moved back to his home town and home church to work with the student ministry. He started on staff in January as a full-time intern and will continue his internship through August. Nathan graduated from St. John’s high school in 2012 and went on to play lacrosse at Williams. He is glad to be back in Texas, working with the student ministry he grew up in, and he’s excited about the opportunity to serve the students and families in the church and city that he knows and loves.

Summer Intern

Katy Chapell is a junior Psychology major at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. She is a 2013 graduate of Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis, MO where she was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Katy helped serve as a leader to the middle school during her junior and senior year of high school, and she came back after her freshmen year of college to work as a summer intern in her home church. Katy is excited about joining our summer staff here at Christ the King, getting to know the students, and reuniting with her former high school youth minister, our very own Rachel Pontier.

Summer Intern

Hannah Johnson is finishing her junior year as an English major at Baylor University. She’s also a 2013 graduate of Memorial High School here in Houston. Hannah has recently felt a growing interest in ministry after serving as chaplain for her sorority at Baylor and working the past two summers with students at Camp Ozark. She is super excited for the opportunity to come back to her home town for the summer and love and serve the students here at Christ the King.
