Christmas at Christ the King

Songs of the Savior, Advent Sermon Series

What is your heart's reaction to a loved one's visit? Does it cause sorrow or joy? Does it bring sadness or excitement? Advent is a Latin word that means “coming” or “visit.” During the season of Advent (marked by four Sundays ending at Christmas), we celebrate Christ’s coming into the world and watch for his coming again. What is your heart's reaction to Christ's coming? Does it cause your heart to sing? Does it provoke in you a response of devotion and joy? Does it compel you to tell others about his coming? Join us each Sunday in December for our sermon series, Songs of the Savior: Advent Meditations from Luke. This is a great time of year to invite a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker, or a family member.

Original Music

Savior of Mankind is a contemporary setting of a Charles Wesley hymn penned in 1745 and is the result of a musical collaboration between songwriters across Houston. During this Advent season of expectation, this song reminds us of what we look forward to celebrating at Christmas. We will use this piece of music in worship throughout the Advent and Christmas season to help us reflect more deeply upon what the incarnation means in God's story of redemption.
